Lyrics of The Hindu Times

I get up when I'm down
I can't swim but my soul won't drown
I do believe I got flare
I got speed and I walk on air

Me levanto cuando estoy abajo
No puedo nadar pero mi alma no se ahogará
Creo que tengo brotes
Tengo velocidad y camino en el aire

CHORUS:
Cause God gimme soul and all rock n roll babe x2
And I get so high I just can't feel it x2
In and out my brain running through my brains cause you're my sunshine you're my rain

CORO:
La causa de Dios y el alma dame todo el rock n roll nena x2
Y me siento tan alto que no puedo sentirlo x2
Dentro y fuera de mi cerebro funcionando a través de mi cerebro porque eres mi sol eres mi lluvia

There's a light that shine on
Shines on me and it keeps me warm
It gimme peace I must say
I can't sleep cause the world won't wait

Hay una luz que brillan en
Brilla sobre mí y me mantiene caliente
Se dame la paz he de decir
No puedo dormir porque el mundo no esperará

(Repeat Chorus)
[Bridge]

(Repite Coro)
[Bridge]

And I get so high I just can't feel it x4
In and out my brain running through my brains cause you're my sunshine you're my rain

Y me siento tan alto que no puedo sentirlo x4
Dentro y fuera de mi cerebro funcionando a través de mi cerebro porque eres mi sol eres mi lluvia

'The Hindu Times' is a song by English rock band Oasis, and was the first single to be released from their fifth album 'Heathen Chemistry' on 15 April 2002. It was written by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. Noel got the name 'The Hindu Times' from a t-shirt he saw in a charity shop. The song was the band's sixth UK #1 single, staying on top for one week before being dislodged by the Sugababes' 'Freak Like Me'.

The title has little to do with the lyrics of the song, which are more in the vein of 'Definitely Maybe''s 'Rock 'n' Roll Star'. It has been speculated that the title refers to the main riffs' similarity to Indian music in sound, sounding as if they were played on a sitar. Gallagher himself says that it is because he had already named the song before any lyrics were written for it.

The song, which combines the powerful fast rock of their earlier work with the psychedelic feel of their later work, was one of the first Oasis singles since the singles from the album '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' to receive almost unanimously positive reviews from the critics. The song was unveiled during Oasis' Autumn 2001 'Noise and Confusion' Tour. The song was due to be released commercially at the same time but Noel decided the track needed more work done on it to be suitable for release. Many have commented on the main guitar riff being lifted from the Stereophonics song, 'Same Size Feet', which uses the exact same, or at least very similar, guitar riff.

The B-side, 'Just Getting Older', was written at the time of the release of 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants'.
