Las letras de Shakespeares Sister

Young bones groan
And the rocks below say:
"Throw your skinny body down, son!"

Jóvenes huesos gemido
Y las rocas de abajo dice:
"Arroja tu cuerpo flaco abajo, hijo!"

But I'm going to meet the one I love
So please don't stand in my way
Because I'm going to meet the one I love
No, Mamma, let me go!

Pero yo voy a conocer a la persona que amo
Así que por favor no pongas en mi camino
Porque yo voy a conocer a la persona que amo
No, mamá, déjame ir!

Young bones groan
And the rocks below say:
"Throw your white body down!"

Jóvenes huesos gemido
Y las rocas de abajo dice:
"Arroja tu cuerpo blanco abajo!"

But I'm going to meet the one I love
At last! At last! At last!
I'm going to meet the one I love
La-de-da, la-de-da
No, Mamma, let me go!

Pero yo voy a conocer a la persona que amo
¡Por fin! ¡Por fin! ¡Por fin!
Voy a cumplir con la persona que amo
La-de-da, la-de-da
No, mamá, déjame ir!

I thought that if you had
An acoustic guitar
Then it meant that you were
A Protest Singer
Oh, I can smile about it now
But at the time it was terrible
No, Mamma, let me go
No...

Pensé que si había
Una guitarra acústica
Entonces eso significa que estás
Un cantante de protesta
Oh, puedo sonreír ya!
Pero en el momento fue terrible
No, mamá, déjame ir
No. ..

'Shakespeare's Sister' is a non-album single by British band The Smiths, released in March 1985. It first appeared on albums in 1987 via the 'Louder Than Bombs' and 'The World Won't Listen' compilations.

Its title refers to a section of Virginia Woolf's feminist essay 'A Room of One's Own' in which Woolf argues that if William Shakespeare had had a sister of equal genius, as a woman she would not have had the opportunity to make use of it.

Another interpretation of the title is that it refers to the Tennessee Williams play 'The Glass Menagerie' - the Gentleman Caller, who is courting Tom Wingfield's sister, refers to Tom as 'Shakespeare' in the play - and there are other allusions to the play in the song's lyric.

The original single's sleeve featured Pat Phoenix, best-known for her long-running role in the UK TV series 'Coronation Street'.

The band Shakespears Sister was named after the song.
